_2520 5

After a blogging hiatus of about half the year, I may have returned at last.  There comes a time for everything, eventually, and now is apparently the time for burnouts in some areas..which in turn has brought me here once again.  It's nice to be back.

This entry will be a recap on the last six months--

From April to June we awaited Misha's full recovery after eye surgery, and were immensely pleased to see such good end results with him.

June and July were spent painting part of the house and shed, and landscaping the front and back yards.

The back yard project was a major upheaval, but boy did we have fun!

...and what it looks like now.  To see all the photos:

Since July we have finally been making major progress on the house renovations as well.  First the leaking roof was fixed (the former owner saw fit to use kitty litter bags as a plastic liner under the tiles when he replaced the roof himself), followed by a start on new electricity (same former owner thought that putting sockets in ceilings was a brilliant idea), as well as some plumbing works--namely a new boiler and heating installation upstairs.  Yay, no more frozen toes!  Thus, I was able to spend the last few weeks at long last finishing the front bedroom.  Furniture was moved in just two days ago and I am utterly elated.  This is the room that long time readers will recall my having torn apart last year, which was how we discovered the roof was leaking.  Long story.  Anyhow, I'll have photos of that project soon, hopefully.

On August 23rd, Bromley celebrated his 1st forever home anniversary:

Bromley 5

He has come such a long way, and we're darn proud of him!

In September the boys got a real treat--a Berner Walk in the woods.  We had about 25 Bernese Mountain Dogs in attendance:

Now, am I forgetting anything?  Yes!  Bromley turned a big 2 on October 7th.  We celebrated with homemade cheeseburgers and a walk to the pet store, where Bromley socialized with his favorite bunnies and picked out a Wubba for his present.

The birthday boy ísn't too keen on his hat, but he was a good sport!

Misha (on left) takes hat wearing very seriously.  Here he is making sure Bromley keeps his in place for the photos so that they can get treats for posing.  Yes, my dogs make me laugh everyday.

No birthday is complete without a cat patrol!

And if anyone wants to see all our photos from the last six months, here they are! (There are several hundred.)

Misha and Bromley have also been blogging, naturally.  They both have a lot to say.

SO, now we're all caught up.  I'll close this long due entry with one more item:

What can I say?  April has been beautiful.  Summer temperatures have brought on the full bloom of May a month early.  While I have at least four major problems on my mind--on top of the regular routine which cannot be ignored--blogging has not been a great interest of mine lately.  Nevertheless, I'm aware there is a number of people who still use this medium as the main channel in which to receive my terribly exciting updates, and others who are still following for the photos, so I will attempt to post something that isn't entirely stupid, vague or otherwise enigmatic.

My birthday (as planned) was a nonevent this year, but I did like my presents very much.  Oscar Wilde, Wilkie Collins, Le Fanu and the first BBC miniseries ever made ought to keep me occupied for awhile when I want to stop thinking about things.

For those who don't know, Misha underwent eye surgery on the 8th.  I haven't wanted to blog about it myself at all, but he has done so for those who are interested.  Misha's blog  and  the post-op photos

Some scenery at the Watertower, Misha's old stomping grounds from puppy days.  We took a walk there about a week before his surgery.  He always enjoys revisiting his puppyhood memories.

Well, it seems that's all I can drum out right now.  Perhaps another month will pass before posting again, or maybe I will have something tomorrow--there's no telling.  Right now it's difficult to see past all the present muck and mire.

Bromley kills the price list (the whole series is at the end of the link for the Eese photos).

I'm quiet and will remain so.  Full of too many things to write anything coherent.

It's an established fact that I have a minor obsession with Berners and antiques.  This post will focus on the latter of the two for a change.

I have a few favorite antique pieces I will always want in a house: desk, vanity and sofa.  Well, over the weekend, I got the sofa part checked off the list (I've been hunting and trying to save for almost 2 years).  It's not in fantastic condition (which would be a reason why it was so cheap) and I'm not sure if it's really 1870 or later (the fabric has been replaced and the only nails I can locate are "new"), but it's just what we were looking for.  Believe it or not, we sit on it too (after I cleaned it).

I used the flash here to show the woodwork better. The veneer is chipped in one place on the top, and the insides of the feet, otherwise perfect.  It weighs a ton.

With Misha sitting in front I find it hard to believe it is 6.5 feet long (2 meters).  He makes everything look smaller.

Misha and Bromley have new entries up too.
